BarterMax

For charities and nonprofits

Give what you can.

Charities join BarterMax as members. Businesses donate Barter Credits from their accounts, and your organization spends them with other members on what it needs: printing, catering, repairs, venues.

How charity membership works

Your organization is a member like any other, with its own account, statements and a Barter Coach. The difference is that businesses can give you credits.

  1. Step 1: Join as a member

Sign up the way any business does, and your organization gets the Pro plan free. A Barter Coach gets you set up and helps you tell members what you need.

  2. Step 2: Receive donated credits

Businesses donate credits from their own accounts. Each donation lands in your account with the donor’s name and memo, and shows on your monthly statement.

  3. Step 3: Spend them with members

Pay members for printing, catering, repairs or a venue, the same way every member pays. Nothing moves until you confirm.

What credits buy

Spend credits on what the organization needs

The same marketplace every member uses: listings with prices in credits, a member directory and Matches that say why a member fits.

The Foundation

BarterMax Your Impact Foundation®

Want to give without picking a charity? Donate credits to the Foundation instead. It grants them on to charity members, so your spare capacity still ends up where it’s needed.

  • Give to a charity member directly, or to the Foundation
  • The Foundation passes donated credits on to charity members as grants
  • Every donation and grant moves through the same double-entry ledger

Tax receipts for donations

Receipts are issued outside the app, so talk to us about receipts before you give. Whether a donation is deductible depends on your situation; your accountant can tell you.

Questions

Membership, donations and receipts

One Barter Credit equals one US dollar for valuation, bookkeeping and tax. Amounts show with the code BC, so BC 1,250.00 is 1,250 credits.
What does a Barter Coach do?
Barter Coaches are real people who help members trade. Your coach gets you set up, helps with your first trades and your credit line, and points you to members to spend with. You can book a call with a coach before you join.
What does it cost?
Pro is $25 a month and Scale is $75 a month, or 20% less billed yearly. Enterprise pricing is custom, so talk to us. Start with a 30-day free trial, no credit card. There are no transaction fees and no application fee, so every credit you earn is yours to spend. Charities and nonprofits get Pro free. See pricing.
