FAQ'S

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. What exactly is Bartermax?
A. Bartermax is a business-to-business barter network with hundreds of member
businesses who trade their products and services for those of other member
businesses.

Q. How does the system work?
A. In a barter network, members are not trading on a one-to-one basis; they are
trading in and out of a pool. Members are paid in “barter dollars” (or trade
credits) instead of cash. These “barter dollars” are credited to a member’s
Bartermax account. Members then use the trade credits in the account to
pay for goods and services that they wish to purchase.

Q. I do trading on my own. How would my business benefit by joining Bartermax?
A. By working through a barter network, your business has access to hundreds of
products and services, many of which would not be available otherwise. You
also have Bartermax acting as a sales agent for your company since we actively
market your company to other members of the network.

Q. How will I know what goods and services I can get on barter?
A. As a member of Bartermax, you will have an assigned Trade Broker who will
contact you when new offerings become available. While barter is not a
substitute for cash, it is always a good idea to check with your Trade Broker
before making any purchases for your business.

Q. Is there a minimum amount of work I must do on trade?
A. Absolutely not. Members can always limit the amount of business they are
willing to do on barter.

Q. Can barter help my business’ cash flow?
A. Yes. When your business does work on barter, your Bartermax account will
receive the appropriate credit in “barter dollars” upon receipt of your invoice.
This trade credit is now immediately available for use by your company to cover
costs that you might have otherwise paid in cash.

Q. Can I promote my normal cash business through working on barter?
A. Absolutely. Let work done on trade pay for advertising, marketing services and
business promotions. Take customers to dinner on barter. Use barter to cover
the cost of corporate functions and gifts. Or trade for scores of other goods
and services while introducing your company to dozens of prospective clients.
And don’t forget that a barter exchange can be great for networking. Through
barter you will make new business contacts and open the possibilities for
referrals and prospective new cash customers.

Q. Will using barter create added paperwork and hassles with the IRS?
A. No. As third-party record keepers, Bartermax will do all the paperwork,
providing you with up-to-date monthly statements for your reference. Barter
income is reportable to the IRS exactly like cash income. Bartermax will provide
you with timely and accurate reporting of all barter income and expenditures for
your records.

Q. How will I know if barter is right for my business?
A. Bartermax offers prospective members a free consultation. We will review your
business’ individual needs and see how they compare to the goods and services
offered through the barter exchange.

Q. Is it expensive to join Bartermax?
A. Not at all. Bartermax charges a one-time Initial Membership Fee and a nominal
Annual Service Fee thereafter. A 15% commission is charged on all purchases.

Q. Why should I select Bartermax?
A. Bartermax has one of New England’s best selections of bartered products and
services. Our staff will respond quickly and efficiently to meet your needs.
